Preventing sale of weapons to Iranian regime
Meetings on the Middle East in the coming months should focus on this very big threat to peace and security
23-07-2020 - In a speech to the Security Council, US ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft reiterated "the need not to lift Iran's arms embargo“ in order to prevent the sale of weapons to the Iranian regime.
On Tuesday, July 21, she spoke about the situation in the Palestinian territories and Gaza, noting Iran's influence over groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the country.
Promote the hegemonic demands of their supporters like Iran.
"According to the US ambassador to the United Nations, the end of these sanctions will cause the Iranian government" more misery and bloodshed” not only in Gaza, but also in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.”
She further stressed that Security Council meetings and meetings on the Middle East in the coming months "should focus on this very big threat to peace and security“.
It is noteworthy that China and Russia, key supporters of Tehran, have said in recent weeks that they will not allow the extension of sanctions through the Security Council.  US officials have also stressed that they will not allow trade in weapons with Teheran.
The United States government has received some support from its Western allies in this regard, including a recent joint statement by France, Germany and Britain expressing concerns about the end of arms embargoes by three European countries.
At the same time, the three European powers have criticized the US withdrawal from the UN Security Council and still adhere to the implementation of the UN Security Council.
According to a group of analysts and experts, the extension of the arms embargo on Iran will severely affect the survival of "Borjam" and may make it impossible to continue in its current form.
