Five Soldiers Killed In Military Academy Attack
From Tolo news
29-01-2018 - Basir Mujahid, a spokesman for the Kabul police chief, has confirmed that five army soldiers were killed and at least 10 others were wounded in an attack on Marshal Fahim Military University in Kabul early Monday morning.
Clashes between security forces and insurgents lasted for about five hours after a group of five attackers tried to enter the facility.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Defence Dawlat Waziri said two insurgents blew themselves up, two were killed and a third was arrested.
The two suicide bombers detonated their explosives at the gate, Waziri said.
“Two attackers were detonated his explosive close to the academy and two other were killed by the security forces while the fifth one arrested,” he added.
Soon after the attack happened, a source inside the camp said explosions and gunfire could be heard coming from the direction of the entrance.
TOLOnews journalist Gulabuddin Ghubar reports from the area that security forces have blocked off all roads in the area.
Daesh has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Last year on 21st October fifteen cadets from the same academy were killed when the bus they were traveling in was targeted in a suicide bombing.
This is just one more in a string of attacks in the country in the past nine days - including two other deadly attacks in Kabul.
