This is Pinotti’s second visit to Erbil in two months (from Rudaw)
29-06-2016 - ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - The Italian Defense Minister, Roberta Pinotti, is scheduled to visit the Kurdistan Region where she will meet with President Masoud Barzani and Italian military personnel training the Kurdish Peshmerga in the fight against Islamic State (ISIS) militants.
“During her visit to Erbil, Roberta Pinotti will meet with President Masoud Barzani, Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and Peshmerga forces in the Zeravani Tigers training center, where Italian advisors are based,” said Rudaw reporter, Hevidar Ahmed on Tuesday.
This is Pinotti’s second visit to Erbil in two months.
During her last visit to the region, in early May, she met with the authorities to discuss the fight against the ISIS, repairs to the unstable Mosul Dam – which are being carried out by an Italian company, and the deployment of more Italian military advisers and personnel to the region.
In early March, Pinotti announced that her country would base helicopters in the Kurdistan Region capital, Erbil, to conduct combat, search and rescue operations.
